The Navamsa Chart D9
Spouse, marriage & dharma — marriage, the spouse, dharma and the deeper strength of every planet.
The D9 (Navamsa) is the most important divisional chart after the D1 — so vital it is almost always drawn alongside it. It governs marriage and the spouse, but more broadly it reveals each planet's true inner strength and one's dharma. A planet weak in the D1 but strong in the D9 (vargottama) gains great power; a strong planet that crumbles in the D9 promises less than it seems.

What the Navamsa (D9) shows
Every divisional chart magnifies one department of life. The Navamsa divides each sign into 9 equal parts, then maps each part to a full sign — producing a new 12-sign chart that zooms in on marriage, the spouse, dharma and the deeper strength of every planet. A promise made in the main birth chart (D1) is confirmed only if it also holds up in the relevant varga; this is how experienced astrologers separate strong promises from weak ones.
How it's used
The D9 is read for the strength and condition of planets relevant to spouse, marriage & dharma. A planet that is strong in both the D1 and the D9 gives full results in that area; one that weakens in the D9 delivers less than the main chart suggests. A planet in the same sign in the D1 and D9 is vargottama — exceptionally strong.
