Dasha · Major Period 1/9
Ketu Mahadasha केतु
A 7-year Vimshottari period governed by Ketu ☋ — the south node — detachment, past-life mastery and moksha.
A Ketu mahadasha turns life inward. As the planet of detachment and past-life mastery, Ketu tends to loosen worldly attachments — results feel incomplete even when they come, and the pull is toward spirituality, research and letting go. It can bring sudden changes, unexpected endings and a sense of confusion about direction, but also flashes of intuition and genuine spiritual progress. Often a winding-down, threshold phase, especially as it follows the long material Venus period.

What the Ketu mahadasha brings
When Ketu is strong/well-placed: Spiritual breakthroughs, intuition, freedom from old burdens, success in research, medicine or the occult, and quiet inner growth.
When Ketu is weak/afflicted: Confusion, losses and separations, lack of direction, health issues that are hard to diagnose, and feeling cut off from the world.
Sub-periods (antardashas)
Every mahadasha is divided into nine antardashas (bhuktis) — sub-periods ruled in turn by each of the nine planets, sized in proportion to their own dasha length. So a Ketu mahadasha opens with Ketu–Ketu, then Ketu–Venus, and so on. The interplay between the major lord (Ketu) and the sub-lord is what fine-tunes the actual results month to month — which is why a precise chart matters. This site computes all three levels (Maha → Antar → Pratyantar).
Remedies during the Ketu dasha
If Ketu is challenged in your chart, its classical remedies are especially worth observing while its dasha runs (use gems only if Ketu suits your ascendant):
- Ketu / Ganesha mantra; Ganapati worship before any undertaking
- Cat’s eye (lehsunia) only on expert advice
- Spiritual practice is Ketu’s true remedy — meditation, surrender, simplicity
