The Venus mahadasha is the longest of all — twenty years — and generally one of the most enjoyable. Venus governs love, beauty, comfort and relationship, so this period often brings marriage, romance, artistic flowering, vehicles, luxury and material ease. Social life expands and life simply feels sweeter. The quality depends heavily on Venus's strength and placement: well-placed, it is a golden era of pleasure and prosperity; afflicted, it can over-indulge, or bring disappointment in love and relationships.

What the Venus mahadasha brings
When Venus is strong/well-placed: Marriage and romance, wealth and comfort, artistic and creative success, vehicles and property, social popularity and pleasure.
When Venus is weak/afflicted: Relationship troubles, over-indulgence and excess, vanity, reproductive or kidney issues, and financial leakage through luxury.
Sub-periods (antardashas)
Every mahadasha is divided into nine antardashas (bhuktis) — sub-periods ruled in turn by each of the nine planets, sized in proportion to their own dasha length. So a Venus mahadasha opens with Venus–Venus, then Venus–Sun, and so on. The interplay between the major lord (Venus) and the sub-lord is what fine-tunes the actual results month to month — which is why a precise chart matters.
